You Might Be Wondering…

Reiki is based on the idea that energy isn’t limited by physical distance. During a distance session, I use focused intention and Reiki techniques to direct energy to you wherever you are. You don’t need to be on a video call—or even do anything special—for the session to take place.
One way I like to think about it is a little like Wi-Fi or Bluetooth. We rely on invisible connections every single day without giving much thought to how the signal gets from one place to another. Distance Reiki obviously isn’t Wi-Fi, but the comparison can make the idea of connecting without being physically together feel a little less strange.
And if it still sounds a little hard to wrap your head around, you’re not alone. You don’t have to fully understand how it works—or even be completely convinced that it will—to be open to the experience.
-
Every Reiki experience is different, and there’s no “right” way to feel during a session. Some people notice warmth, tingling, a sense of heaviness or lightness, deep relaxation, emotions coming to the surface, or even colors or images in their mind. Others simply feel calm—or don’t notice much of anything at all.
And that’s completely okay. You don’t have to feel something dramatic for your session to be meaningful. Reiki isn’t a performance, and there’s nothing you need to make happen. Your only job is to get comfortable, relax as much as you’re able, and let the experience be whatever it is for you.
-
Not at all. You don’t need any previous experience with Reiki, meditation, energy work—or even know exactly what you believe about any of it. Curiosity is more than enough.
Before your session, I’ll make sure you know what to expect and answer any questions you have. There’s nothing you need to study, practice, or prepare to “do it right.” Reiki doesn’t require you to quiet your mind, visualize anything specific, or be in a particular state.
Just show up as you are. I’ll take care of the Reiki part.
-
That’s completely okay. You don’t have to clear your mind, stop thinking, or somehow achieve a perfectly peaceful state to receive Reiki. If your brain wants to run through tomorrow’s to-do list, replay a conversation from three days ago, or wonder what you’re having for dinner—it can. You’re still doing just fine.
You don’t even have to be perfectly still or quiet to receive Reiki. Creating a comfortable, peaceful space can help you relax and notice the experience, but it isn’t a requirement for Reiki to be received.
During your session, simply get as comfortable as you can. If your thoughts wander, you can gently bring your attention back to your breathing, the music, or how your body feels—but there’s no need to force anything.
Sometimes the mind settles as the session goes on. Sometimes it doesn’t. Either way, you haven’t done Reiki wrong.

Honestly? Take the nap. 😴
Falling asleep during Reiki is completely okay—and pretty common when your body begins to relax. You don’t need to be awake or consciously focused on the session to receive Reiki.
If you do drift off, there’s nothing you’ll miss and nothing you need to redo. Consider the extra rest a bonus and let your body take what it needs.

Yes. Reiki can be used as a complementary practice alongside medical care, therapy, and other forms of support. Some people choose Reiki as a way to create space for relaxation, reflection, and a greater sense of well-being while navigating whatever else may be happening in their lives.
I’ve personally used Reiki alongside my own medical care, and it became an important part of how I supported myself through a difficult season. That experience is also part of what inspired me to begin offering Reiki to others.
Reiki is not a replacement for medical treatment, mental health care, medication, or the advice of a qualified healthcare professional. I’ll never ask you to choose Reiki instead of the care you need.
Think of it as another tool in your self-care toolbox—one that can sit comfortably alongside the others.

There’s no complicated preparation required. Before your session, find a comfortable place where you can relax with as few interruptions as possible. You can lie down, curl up on the couch, or settle into your favorite chair—whatever feels good to you.
Wear something comfortable, grab a blanket if you’d like, and have some water nearby. I also recommend silencing notifications and letting anyone around you know that you’re taking a little time for yourself.
You’re welcome to listen to music, sit in silence, or simply close your eyes and rest. I’ll provide a few options before your session, but ultimately this is your time—there’s no perfect setup required.
Come exactly as you are. I’ll meet you there.
-
Not unless you want to be. Your Reiki session can happen completely offline, so there’s no need to stay on a video call—or even have your phone nearby—while you receive.
If connecting face-to-face would help you feel more comfortable, we can check in briefly before your session. You’ll also have the option to stay connected by video or audio during the session if that feels right for you.
There’s no better or more effective choice. Some people love the connection of knowing I’m right there with them, while others would much rather put their phone away, get cozy, and completely unplug.
Choose whatever helps you feel most comfortable and supported.
Still wondering?
If there’s something I didn’t cover here, I’d love to hear from you. There are no silly questions—especially when you’re trying something new.
